• Ve sonunda canım İZDOB’umun balesinin sezondaki yeni eserini yakalayarak kapanışını yaptım.
• Öncelikle eser; ‘Nefes, Koz ve Bolero’ üçlemesinden oluşuyor.
• Bu bağlamda modern olması ışığında hemen aklıma, İZDOB’un yeni mekânında sergilediği ilk modern bale Minyatür-Gece’yi aklıma getirdi. Ondan o kadar büyüyenmiştim ki hâlen hayranlıkla hatırlıyorum. Dansın ritmi de evet o minvalde ancak biraz daha farklı bir yapıda.
• Öncelikle gündem bağlamında yaşadıklarımızla paralellik arz eden bi kurguya sahip olması yine eşzamanlılar adına (Atilla operasından sonra) tebessüm ettirmedi değil. 
• Diğer yandan, modern de olsa kostümlerin ve dekorun biraz daha rol oynamasından hoşlanan bir tipim. O yüzden hem onların hem canlı orkestranın eksikliğini hissettim.
• Bir de tüm sene bekleyip kısa bitmesinin üzdüğünü eklemeliyim. 2-2,5 saatlik temsillere alışınca bunun 1 saatte bitmiş olması beni üzdü. Evet bazı eserler böyle oluyor ancak sanırım özlemden kaynaklandı, kısalığına hayıflanışım. 
• Son olarak 3. bölümün hepsinden farklı bir etkiye sahip olduğunu önemle belirtmeliyim. 
• Her perdede zenginleşerek güçlenen kadro Boléro’da* Burcu hanımın da eklenmesi ile bence zirve noktasına ulaştı. 
• Melodilerinin kuvvetli itkisi de resmen zirveye taşıdı performansları. Bu açıdan, anlayacağınız üzere en çok 3. bölümden etkilendim.
• Ve fakat bir anda bitmesi beni biraz gafil avladı açıkçası. Belki de onları izlemeye dair o özlemimin etkisi ile sürenin kısa gelmesi bağlamında daha devam edecek hissiyatına girince bana bir anda kesilmiş hissi geldi.
• Tabii bunda Boléro parçasının “birdenbire sessizleşip bitmek yerine tam tersine, bir dev dalga gibi büyüyüp sonunda büyük bir ses patlamasıyla sona ermesi” şeklindeki yapısının etkisi de olabilir ancak işte bilemiyorum. 
• Özetle, tadı damağımda kalarak ayrıldığım çok orijinal ve çarpıcı bir bale temsili oldu kendi adıma.

* Boléro: 1928’de, Rus dansçı Ida Rubinstein’in bale gösterisi için Maurice Ravel’den bir İspanyol tarzı müzik istemesi ile üretilen ikonik eser. 

Tek bir tema ve tek bir ritim üzerine kuruludur. 15–18 dakika süren tüm parça boyunca aynı melodi tekrar edilir, ama her tekrar farklı bir enstrümanla çalınır ve orkestrasyon gittikçe büyür.

Zira Boléro, İspanyol dansı “bolero” ritmine dayalıdır; yavaş ve hipnotik bir tempoyla ilerler.

The Rhythm of Dance..

• And finally, I closed the season by catching the new ballet production of my beloved İZDOB.
• The performance consisted of a trilogy: Breath, Cocoon, and Boléro.
• In this context, thinking about its modern aspect immediately reminded me of İZDOB’s first modern ballet Miniature-Night at their new venue. I had been so enchanted by it that I still remember it with great admiration. The Rhythm of Dance is similar in spirit, though it carries a slightly different structure.
• First of all, I was happy to see that the storyline paralleled the current issues we are experiencing, creating a meaningful synchronicity (especially after the Atilla opera).
• On the other hand, even though it was a modern performance, I am personally someone who enjoys when costumes and set designs (+ live orchestra) play a slightly bigger role — so I did feel their absence a little.
• I must also add that after waiting all year, it was a little disappointing that it ended so quickly. Having gotten used to two-hour performances, the fact that it finished in just one hour left me wanting more. Yes, I know some productions are shorter by nature, but I guess it was my longing that made me regret its brevity. 
• Lastly, I should particularly note that the third part had a completely different impact than the others.
• The cast, which grew richer and stronger with each act, reached its peak during Boléro with the addition of Ms. Burcu.
• Thanks to the strength of the melodies, the performances truly radiated. As you can probably tell, I was most moved by the third section.
• However, its sudden ending honestly caught me off guard. Perhaps, due to my longing to watch them, I was so immersed that I felt like it would continue — and when it suddenly stopped, it left me feeling abruptly cut off.
• Of course, this might also be influenced by the nature of Boléro itself, which doesn’t end by fading into silence but rather grows like a massive wave and concludes with a grand explosion of sound — but I can’t say for sure.
• In short, it was a very original and striking ballet performance that left me with a wonderful lingering taste.

* Boléro: An iconic piece created by Maurice Ravel in 1928 upon the request of Russian dancer Ida Rubinstein for a Spanish-style ballet music.

It is built on a single theme and a single rhythm. Throughout the entire piece, which lasts 15–18 minutes, the same melody is repeated, but each repetition is played by a different instrument, and the orchestration gradually builds up.

It is based on the rhythm of the Spanish dance “bolero” and progresses at a slow and hypnotic tempo.
