IFW 2. Gün: Simay Bülbül 2011 İlkbahar-Yaz / IFW Day 2nd: Simay Bülbül 2011 Spring-Summer
-‘Sihir her yerde, bütün dünyadadır.
In the second day of Istanbul Fashion Week, as a guest of Markafoni [markafoni.com], my third show as an Izmirian was Izmirian Simay Bulbül’s collection which she told a story about an Izmirian woman sorcerer called Attarti Ana. Her first ‘avant-garde couture’ collection has the name ‘Quoddam ubique, Quoddam semper, Quoddam ab omnibus, creditum est!’ -‘Faith which has been believed everywhere, always, by all’-. Due to this, designer Bülbül gave a mysterious and magical atmosphere to the items of her first solo fashion show as well. Such that, the best piece which matched perfectly with this concept was the invitation letter which was full of joyful receipts and also had the shape of an old magic book.
Related to the magic concept, the textiles were mostly leather, chiffon and silk. The dresses which had the black, ecru, green and saxe blue colors were presented in a ritual mode on the catwalk by the models nicely but; I don’t know why, maybe because of non-ergonomic shoes worn or long long skirts of dresses or un-professional models; eventually the show ended the happening of about-the-falling of models while walking! In my opinion, this obvious negative circumstance was a disturbed fact.
Besides these, the final of the show with the big lamps was enjoyable and interesting. The lights putting off slowly and the globes lighting up made the atmosphere very pleasant. But in the end, as a Harry Potter fan I should admit that I have the thought that the concept of magic could have been presented in a much much more magical way. With the designs of the clothes, the accessorizes (both clothing and presentation), the music, the choreography, will all these elements the show could have been much much more impressive, according to me..
