Romeo and Juliet (2022)..

• Ne yazık ki hayatımda izlediğim en karanlık, kasvetli, soğuk ve upuzun bale oldu. Oysa ki çok ümitliydim ve fakat umduğunu bulamadım. Demek ki neymiş bazı hikayelerin uyarlanmaması gerekiyormuş belki de. (Kenneth MacMillan)
• Ya da bunda kendi adıma etkili olan şey bir türlü Romeo karakterini canlandıran sanatçıya (Marcelino Sambé) alışamamanın, bu nedenle de bana gerçeklik hissinin geçememiş olması en büyük etken olmuş olabilir. 
• Juliette karakteri (Anna Rose O'Sullivan) bu kadar gerçekçi olurken -ki gerçekten kız Juliet’in vücut bulmuş hali gibiydi-;
• onun tam tersi bir yönde Romeo’nun bu kadar bir uyumsuzluk sergilemesi, dediğim gibi kendi adıma büyük hayal kırıklığı oldu. 
• Gerçekçi hissiyati geçmeyince de 2,5 saat adeta geçmek bilmedi benim için. Büyük sıkıldım. 
• Zaten dekor da, dediğim gibi, inanılmaz kasvetliydi. 
• Tek beğendiğim kostümlerdeki müthiş el emeği oldu. Öylesi çok karakterin öylesi tumturaklı kostümlerini dikmenin emeğini ve zamanını düşünemiyorum bile. 
• Bilmiyorum ben 2022 versiyonunu idi seyrettiğim; belki daha önceki yapımlar çok daha iyidir artık onları da izleyerek karşılaştırıp görme şansım olacak. Ancak bunun için keyif alamadığım bir gerçek.

Romeo and Juliet (2022) / Royal Opera-Ballet..

• Unfortunately, this was the darkest, gloomiest, coldest, and longest ballet I have ever watched. I had high hopes, but it didn’t live up to my expectations. Perhaps some stories simply shouldn’t be adapted. (Kenneth MacMillan)
• Or maybe, for me personally, the biggest factor was that I just couldn’t warm up to the dancer portraying Romeo (Marcelino Sambé), which made it impossible for me to feel any sense of realism.
• While the character of Juliet (Anna Rose O’Sullivan) was incredibly convincing—she truly felt like Juliet brought to life—Romeo, on the other hand, felt completely out of place. This mismatch was a huge disappointment for me.
• Without that sense of realism, the 2.5 hours felt like an eternity. I was incredibly bored.
• On top of that, as I mentioned, the set design was unbelievably bleak.
• The only thing I truly appreciated was the incredible craftsmanship in the costumes. I can’t even begin to imagine the time and effort it took to create such elaborate costumes for so many characters.
• I don’t know… The version I watched was from 2022, and maybe earlier productions were much better. I’ll have the chance to compare if I watch them. But one thing is for sure—I did not enjoy this one.
